Rosel is a graduate (BMus Hons, first class) of the New Zealand School of Music, majoring in Performance Voice, and also holds a BA in English Literature from Victoria University of Wellington. In 2010 she completed a year long intensive course at the prestigious Opera Studio Melbourne where she was generously supported by a Lauris Elms Award.

In 2009 Rosel was the mezzo-soprano soloist in Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Festival Singers conducted by NZ Opera’s Michael Vinten. She was a soloist in Mozart’s Missa Brevis for Boulcott Street Central Baptist Church and in Durufle’s Requiem for St Paul’s Cathedral Wellington. She has performed selections from Berlioz’s Nuits d’été with the Kapiti Concert Orchestra, and in 2009 she was the alto soloist for Dvorak’s Mass in D Major. Recently she was a soloist in Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music at the Wellington Town Hall and in Mozart excerpts at the Richmond Town Hall in Melbourne. In 2011 she appears as a soloist in Mozart’s C Minor Mass and Handel’s Messiah for the Heidelberg Choral Society.

Rosel has performed the roles of Phyllis in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe, Second Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Juno in David Farquhar’s Enchanted Islandand Mrs Ducat in the world premiere of Arnold’s Polly for Victoria University OperaIn the coming months, she will be rehearsing the role of Carmen with Melbourne Opera in preparation for their 2011 season. She is pleased to currently be touring interstate with The Song Company in NSW and Victoria.

Rosel is a member of the Chapman Tripp Chorus for NZ Opera and performed in the 2008-2009 seasons of JenufaLa Boheme and Eugene Onegin. She has presented excerpts from Rusalka, L’incoronazione di Poppea, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream and performed the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at the National Theatre for the Opera Studio Melbourne. She has also sung the title role in Acis and Galatea, the Mother in Hansel and Gretel, and Milly in the touring production of Figatroll. With the Opera Studio Melbourne she has performed live on 3MBS radio. This year she was the winner and runner up respectively of the lieder and oratorio sections of the Boroondara eisteddfod. Rosel was a finalist in the 2011 Robert Salzer Vocal Championship and the 2010 Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Aria. She is a past recipient of the Freemasons Undergraduate Scholarship and the Ella C. Wilson Scholarship in music.
